Find Hotel in Den Bosch –
Den Bosch (the forest) or ‘s-Hertogenbosch (The Duke’s Forest) is the name of a beautiful city in the south of the Netherlands with about 144000 inhabitants. It is the capital of the province of North Brabant and It’s the place I was born in 1953. Nowadays I live in France.
Den Bosch has a special atmosphere which attracts a lot of people, it’s famous for it’s hospitality and warm people. You do feel the so called Bourgois lifestyle in the many bars and restaurants, the variation and the quality of the food is overwhelming.
Famous are the festivals like the Theatre Festival Boulevard and Jazz in Duketown. There are some important museums to visit like Stedelijk Museum, Noord Brabants Museum and Jheronimus Bosch Art Center (the painter Jheronimus Bosch c. 1450–1516), was presumably the most famous citizen of Den Bosch. Not to forget, Den Bosch has one of the biggest Cathedrals in the Netherlands, it’s called Saint John’s Cathedral. I made a pencil drawing of it in 1982, see image left.
You might be interested to visit the famous and great ‘Theater Festival Boulevard’ in the summer. A fantastic happening with lots of streettheater on many different locations throughout the city.
During this festival from the 3th to the 13th of August, there are many restaurants and bars within the festival terrain, the atmosphere is just amazing, a must go to experience.
