Find Hotel in Venice –
How can you not fall in love with this pearl in Italy. Venice is a wondercity in the water with very few streets, it has around 264.579 inhabitants (2014).118 small islands, located in de shallow Venetian Lagoon, ofcourse it’s partly listed as World Heritage Site. The transport of goods and people is mainly by boat.
The city has become a major centre of international conferences and festivals, such as the prestigious Venice Biennale and the Venice Film Festival, which attract visitors from all over the world for their theatrical, cultural, cinematic, artistic, and musical productions.
It was 1996 that I was invited to visit the “Venice Biennale Architecture 1996”. The most impressive pavilion for me was the Japanese “Inside me, the earthquake”: Materiality and Embodiment in the 1996 Fractures Exhibition. Due to a catastrophe which occurd on January 17, 1995 at approximately 5:45AM an earthquake of immense magnitude occurred in the Kobe-Awaji area of Western Japan. Reports documented over 6,000 deaths, approximately 32,000 newly homeless, and more than 200,000 collapsed homes.

During my 4 days visit in Venice I walked the amazing streets where you can easely get lost and feel the pittoresques atmosphere. You wander from one painting into the other. Then you just hop on one of the Vaporetto boats from “Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano” (ACTV), the public transportation in Venice. It’s beautiful, cheap and a lot of fun. See image below.
