Find Hotel in Monaco
Being one of the smallest countries in the world, the Principality of Monaco, a sovereign city-state located on the French Riviera, might not be at the top of your list of travel destinations and that would be a shame, as Monaco is not just the place where the rich go to spend money at the Casino; there is something for everyone in this small state.
With astonishing views of the Mediterranean Sea and easy access to the French and Italian Riviera, Monaco has plenty of things to offer, starting with its most famous landmarks. The city-state is divided into four quarters: Monte Carlo, the old center of Monaco-Ville, the port of La Condamine, and Espace Fontvieille.
Monaco-Ville, being the oldest part of the principality, also packs the highest concentration of attractions, starting with the Prince's Palace. Don't miss the changing of the guard ceremony, guided visits of the rooms and magnificent panoramas of the port and the rest of the city. Another place that should be included in a visit is the Monaco Cathedral, an imposing white marble building with beautiful architecture and the reigning place of royalty. Among the top attractions of Monaco-Ville is the Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium, one of the best in the world, presenting thousands of exhibits, all kinds of colorful fish and sea creatures. The Exotic Gardens include countless rare species of plants from the four corners of the world.
While this quarter of Monaco holds the main landmarks, Monte Carlo is well known for the Casino and for its luxury hotels. But there are many other places to see and things to do in this small country, starting with a visit to Fort Antoine, dating from the 18th century and used today as an outdoor scene. The Opera House, built by the same architect as the Opera Garnier of Paris, is worth a look. Among the other places to see in Monaco we can include the Prince's Vintage Car Collection, the National Museum of Monaco, the Naval Museum, the City Hall, the Saint Charles Church, as well as many other gardens and museums. Monaco is more than a destination, is an experience of the world of luxury and pleasure.
